Black Sheep Recolour.


Recolour of the previous designs. Still need to do a few more for these ^^
They seem to be an enjoyable race to draw. Will continue to produce some recolours. The bodya, horn styles , hair and eyes will need to be changed for various selcetions of character build which I will also work on.

the bottom image is the first recolour the top one above it I applied highlights to since the other one looked abit flat.

New character race?


A cross between sheep and alien type humanoid. The body was more centaur like though myself and Dave aint to sure if these are going to be one of the playable races yet or just one of the creatures that will be encountered throughout the game. If they are to be finally added as a playable race I may have to do few alterations with it.
Would like to change a series of stuff on these creatures such as horns, ears, colour, hairstlyes and the earrings.

Dave = Help Lianne with main character concepts, and start modeling asap.
Lianne = Textures for Matey, work with dave on main character concepts.
Steve = Work on building a level prototype. Create level 1 scenario.

Dave = Finish first draft of the model, prepare for uvmapping and texturing.
Lianne = Textures for main characters, story developmet.
Steve = Using simple prototype start to intergrate basic AI.

- Monday 27th December
Dave = Finish first main character, start rigging and animation preparations.
Lianne = Textures for main characters, more story and main character concepts.
Steve = Test prototype game, test integration of a character.

Dave = Basic animation set completed, start modeling props.

hes in a shape of a skeletal structure but it is not bone just hardened branches of moss and bark.

Thinking of re designing him a little.
Am not sure if he will be in as part of a final game thing yet ^^ is just part of some creature designs.

Matey Rotations


First character design rotation sheet readt for dave to model. This character may possibly change since im still not fully sure weather or not to still go with this as a final design same with the colour.

the goggles and neck scarf seems to be a persistant thing going with the style , the peg leg has become a metal claw in replacement for his leg though again I am unsure weather this will be kept that way for the final character.
This is now a work in progress model which Dave should now be currently working on so it should hopefully be complete soon. texture mapping and other design sheets will most likely follow.

Brimstone Critter Sketch Sheet






A design sheet for the brimstone style version of this creature. Will be working on the other various forms but possibly all one one sheet to show the other elemental versions on this creature.

Brimstone Critter

This was how my digital version turned out.
I added a little more to it to give it a little more of a textured look to it, which im quite happy with. And added some faint orange glows and tints to it to make it seem lava like, thats also lava coming from the creatures mouth.

I may add a little more to this since it looks a bit plain currently

Two New Creature Ideas.



I started doing some of these on the train as a series of elemental ideas that I quite liked the Ideas of. Since some of the characters will be traveling back and forth to planets some which where once green and rich in plant life could be destroyed when they next visit meaning the creatures that have survive have had to addapt differently to the environment.

Dave also had the idea to think up that they could eat different things that may addapt and change them this way aswell as enviromental effects.

Some Creature Sketches


Some Quick sketches I did for some rough ideas to start off some creatures. the bottom one was suppose to be genetic made aliens based off ravens called bloodphoenix gens that will most likely change along with the idea and design.

The top one was a drake, netherwelps which was the giant creatire behind the black hole taken off the idea structure of tortoises for the face which i altered slightly xD and I kinda liked it. Just need to think of a body for it. This will most likely be redesigned for the ideo OR will come up with a new design for the blackhole idea.

Felinord Space Adaptions


The felinord where an old race of mine that I may add into this project in an appearance, however since this will be thousands, perhaps millions of years in the fututre the felinords race would have evolved more futher into a more ralistic human apperiances.

I may make the ears more humanish so it seems a little different. these creatures may have also lost the triple joints and paw like feet in replacment with a more humanish style of legs and feet.

they may also no longer have tails. This is just an idea of how they may have addapted and changed should they go in the story somewhere.

Matey (Digital Concept)

Ok so my first attemt at digital work didnt go as bad as i thought it would since i have no clue how to use brushes and stuff, so was just basiclly messing with eraser, paint tool and the opacity whilst building up shade in layers.

I still having completely decided on a final design for this guy but i thought it would be a good oppertunity to make a digital piece of him.

More Matey Stuffs


Here I added a close up to the first design of mateys face and more of an idea to his scarf to make it look more pirate like.
There was also these two other designs of the macaw like feature but I felt it didnt quite suit him which then led to the other design with the goggles that I was happy enough with. But im still thinking to go ahead with some other designs of him in the future.

Alien (Redesign 1)



These where the redesigns of the previous aliens. I took the head down a little and longated it a bit so it wasnt huge upwards but backwards into a more suitable alien like look. The males looked alot better this way and I added in a female to this races design which also worked well. They just need more variations I think which will most likely be worked on more when ive made more alien designs.

Some further designs on aliens. These where what i came up with next which i was slightly happy about since i had some male designs xD wasnt completely happy about the head on these guys though.

Introduction To Matey (Character Design)

Matey was a some what hybrid alien space parrot that was companion to Captain, often the navigator.
This was my first design to him which needs slightly altering since i made him a bit chicken like instead of parrot like.

often has a distinguished look, even though hes a very tattered old bird , his neck is slightly bald with scruffs of feathers sticking out where his neck runs to his chest.

Has 6 wings and strainge feathery tentacles to give that sense of an alien look to him, aswell as the beak.

Wears a small pirate like bandana around his neck
and a little rocket peg leg since his wings barely work. (his leg got misfortuatly ate by space monkey s xD nah I havent really thought about how that happened yet >< )

More designs will definatly be added for this guy though.

Captain (Character Design)



This was one design for a main character of my project before the team up with the group. Im not sure if he will be in it anymore since the theam isnt so space pirate as origonally planned.
He was a model of old races I did in previous projects that have developed and found their way into space. I may do new designs for em to fit in with the new one though we may not use them.

Anyhow his story was that he became captain of ship after his home planet was destroyed, he took on refugees as his crew and travled the galaxy in search of supplies and surviving members of his clan.

Quick Head Gear Ideas






















These where the quick ideas of some headgear the alien (and possibly other characters may wear) this was a to early process to come up with more since now this area will be more worked on and improved on later on in the project after other priorities.
The ideas where for a head scarf, protects the face from harmfull enviromental climate exposure.
The goggles annalyse the planets inhabitat, listing edible food/drink sources, environmental information such as heat source, populations, creatures. it will also scan various life forms for information on its nature etc.

Colour Combinations






Here where some small sketches done of the alien in Green and purple just to try out different shades of what I could go with. To be honest most of these seemed a bit vibrant at first, still it was only a test to see ho it would look on this specific alien model.

I then tested out the possible coulour combination of scaled uposn 3 different skin tones to see which variation of scales worked with each other and what clashed. I can say a few of them went a little better than others .

Alien Build







The body here is baised on the alien type in the previous posts :) (TO NOTE - the colour of the alien isnt neccisserily blue I was just sketching them out in this colour).

Any how this alien is humanoid in build basic to that of a human. Legs etc are also in basic design to a human so they have no triple joints and whatnot.
What they do have differently is a large spine like ridge on the Aliens back that runs down from the neck to the tip of the aliens tail. I am unsure if I will be keeping the tails also.
The spine like ridge has no particular use to say but its hard bone like structure offers extra armour to the aliens body.

On her back you can see there a ridges. These work as a form of gills that help addapt the alien to the atmosphere on planets by inhailing the air and addapting it into oxygen for the Alien to supply itself with.

I also Added small specks of scales to the skin around her body. Again its not something relevent to the creature but a nice little feature.

Story (Individual Idea)

This is my first Idea and contribution to the stories development for the other group to work.
All the other memebers of the groups stories can be found on the forum from the link in the previous blog entry :3

Anyhow here is my contribution to the story development.


PLOT DEVELOPMENT -

The time line for this will be based around a few thousand milenians for creatures on other planets to addapt and evolve intelligence in that of a human way. This goes for its Animal type creatures too since I assume they would follow the same basic DNA to that of earthly creatures however coming from different planets cause em to evolve differently making them Alien in apperiance.

The surrounding world is set in space where these creatures have developed space travel and the technology such as space ships to get around on. this includes alien type planets with different features to that of earth as well as space stations in/ around the galaxy in space.
The theme I was going for was kind of space pirate here,... yeah I thought it would be random.

The basic story was due to causes of a blackhole (I named the space Kraken) causes a catacalysm of destruction, devouring planets and ships. Because of the catacalysm spreading the enhabitants of most planets have been forced to take refuge in ships or these space stations due to losses of their planets.

errrr I kinda figured these space pirate type people would visit the catacombs of destroyed planets or travel to other planets looking for supplies to sell at high prices,
run into monsters etc along the way, but so and so happens, they get caught up into a deeper story which im really unsure of what yet (needs some more thinking maybe if you still need more)

Id imagine it would be RPG/ adventure based, exploring planets and environments, picking up junk etc, clothing and equipment change and range of weaponry as well as a system to fight creatures that they run into on environments along the way.

ABILITIES / TECHNOLOGY

Ability wise I was thinking this would fall under the technology .
The technology I was thinking is that thwy would use very futuristic gizmos and weaponry but with a slight twist to fit in a pirate theam so say their armour could be quite pirate like such as a captain would wear, how ever they would have high developed parts of technology mixed in with this.
Also mixing in a little magic to it so its not all just lazors like most space theamed games are I was trying to fit these into some of the high tech armour they would have.

RACES -

Race wise, Id like there to be a variety of humanoid aliens as well as creatures

Action Plan 1

Ok so here my indivitual plan of what I need to do after reading week.
Reading week, my group have been waiting on feed back for a story to our game so we can continue on and start the concepts and desgining. Jay wanted us to post a story each of what we where planning on doing which we did and if located on the forum. This can be found here:

Story development

We where hoping to get that done during reading week so i can get started on the other things.
I can then get started on concept when I know where the story is going.
Unfortunatly it hasnt been done in time and we had to assign the role to another team member.

So this week im planning on starting concepts. if there is no story I may try and do it myself and see what the others think of it(Though I think steve is working on it)
but anyhow my part of the story has been contributed as asked for during reading week hopefully the final will be done in the nest few days and posted so that we can all work on our assigned roles.

first think i will possibly be looking into on the concept area is the characters. I want a good base of characters so that the group have a variety to choose from. This will most likely range from humans to aliens and alien like creatures depending on wether the final story has these things.

I can then look into armour designs and clothing thay wear as well as gizmos, and that can lead onto things such as the transportation designs.

Environments will follow when i got a basic idea from the stroy of what type or galaxy the story is baised around.

from environments i can start to build up on natuaral objects such as vegitation and wildlife (type of alien creatures that would be found around) Buildings I imagine will be alot different for each world depending on cultural backgrounds. I imagine some planets natural habitats will be supported by ecodomes.

I imagine thats what I will be covering for a good few months. I imagine I will also be adding to the texture mapping.

Further Alien Development








Here I was just looking at some different design andstyles of how id like the aliens to look. I will be creating other different types of alien concepts in the future. But I thought Id work a little on this to make a character out of it. The prgression developed from the other sketches. from the creasted head i tried to extend it and addd tenticals and on the other I attempted to add some horns to the designs I felt a few of these worked well. I also attempted to add in small strands of hair. Im unsure about keeping it in though for future designs.

Rough Alien Designs







First lots of rough designs had quite large necks etc, slight over exadurated features, as the face came out a little and the head at the back was extended.
I added small little tetacles to the chin to make it slightly more alien like in features.

The other design was slightly more femanin in terms of looks but I quite liked the design to this one. The face was a lil more squashed in the side veiw which i didnt like so much, that may of had to be changed when carrying on the idea further.
